What You Can Always Expect (and Never Worry About) When You Work With Me

Here are some things I will never do:

I will never schedule a “quick photo shoot” today for tomorrow.

The final results of your session are directly related to the time, attention and intention we put into your session on the front end. You’d be shortchanged by a no-plan quickie shoot.

I will never give you unedited images.

Editing - what photographers call post-processing - is the equivalent of film developing, and is an integral part of the artistry and the feel of the final images. Retouching is always done in consultation with you and in accordance with your preferences. I will never slap a filter or a preset on your images and call that an edit. Every single image is individually hand edited and retouched by me. Post-production is an inseparable component of achieving our vision for your portraits.

Here are some things that I will always do:

I will always devote time to connecting with you, learning about you and your family, why these portraits at this time are important to you, and what you hope to gain from them. Yup, your husband too ;-) 

I will always devote time to connecting with your kids, helping them relax, get comfortable and be themselves. I work at their pace with lots of patience and provide gentle guidance to keep them engaged and having fun. I will never ever insist that a child do anything they don’t want to do - including smile, pose or even look at me or my camera. But you do not need to worry because I will always capture beautiful, authentic and moving images even on their terms.

I will always provide wardrobe and styling guidance, and help you choose the perfect session type to achieve the look and feel you are dreaming of for your portraits.

I will always give you gentle posing guidance and direction so you never feel awkward or have to figure out what to do on your own. I’ll facilitate genuine interaction and connection so we can bring what is authentically inside your family to the outside.

I will always use my magic - my technical skill and my artistic eye - to make sure you look and feel your absolute best.

And I will always, always make sure your final portraits fill your heart with love and joy - today, and even more so 30 years from now!
